Berkeley Chess School - 64 Squares of Serious Fun
When we are not making your phones ring, we take time off to support Berkeley Chess School. For over 30 years Berkeley Chess School (BCS) has been enriching lives of thousands of San Francisco Bay Area kids through in-school and after school chess programs. BCS offers chess classes from beginner to advanced levels, as well as master classes, summer camps and regional chess tournaments.
Chess education promotes logical thinking, ability to plan ahead, and provides a competitive environment where skill and concentration triumph over luck or brute strength. Independent research showed that kids attending BCS Oakland in-school program had better classroom behavior and attendance, and scored higher in CST math.

When the in-class instruction was shut down due to the Coronavirus, Berkeley Chess School successfully pivoted to online chess classes and camps.
In 2020, Berkeley Chess School is offering online summer camp led by Grandmaster Sam Shankland.
With the advent of online instruction, Berkeley Chess School is no longer limited to only serving kids within the immediate Bay Area. We are looking at expanding services to out of state chess enthusiasts as well.
